Most people have a handful of things they would say to the people closest to them, if anyone ever asked.

Why this exists

The people who know us best often know us least recently. Conversations settle into logistics — schedules, plans, how work is going — and the questions that would actually tell you something go unasked, not because anyone is avoiding them but because there is never an obvious moment.

Unwritten makes the moment. That is the entire idea.

What we are careful about

A product that invites people to say true things carries a responsibility not to push. Everything here is built so that stopping is as easy as continuing: passing is free, depth is opted into, and sessions end rather than continue indefinitely.

We also try to describe what we do accurately, including where it is weaker than you might hope. The privacy page says what we cannot promise, in plain words, because the people most likely to rely on a promise are the people least able to afford it being wrong.

Who it is for

Small groups who already trust each other. Families across distance. Couples who want to keep knowing each other. Fire crews, hospital units, and service members — people who spend their working lives being asked about what happened and almost never about themselves.
